Welcome to Howes Community Primary School
From Carol Brammer, Headteacher

Howes Community Primary School was built in 2006 and is in the heart of the Cheylesmore Community Our children are from the Cheylesmore, Stivichall, Finham and Whitley areas of Coventry .

Howes is a great place to learn! We are proud of our school and are continually striving for the highest possible standards. Our curriculum seeks to develop core skills and a positive attitude towards life long learning.

The large sports field, adventure trail and playground enhance the quality of education offered and the children's environmental awareness.  The school building is light, bright and airy.  It is designed for education in the twenty first century.

Children from across the city may attend our Hearing Impaired Unit (HIU).  Each of these children has an individual integration programme based on their own communication and learning needs.

The Enhanced Nursery means that of the 26 children who attend each session there are up to six children with a degree of special need. The Nursery has additional staffing to support these children.

Our vision “working together in pursuit of excellence” seeks to ensure that every child receives equal access to the curriculum and makes good progress.  We want our children to be well motivated with positive attitudes and a pride in themselves, others and the school.

We wish to make your child's time at Howes a memorable and enjoyable one. We appreciate and encourage the involvement of parents, recognising how important that parent partnership is.

We hope our website gives you a flavour of the school and would encourage prospective parents to visit us so that you can see the school in action.

September 2008 Letter from the Headteacher

A New School Year at Howes Primary! To those of you who are returning – Welcome back and to new children, parents and teachers we hope you will be very happy here.

We look forward to seeing children on our first day of School on Wednesday September 3 rd . Reception and Nursery have a staggered start to ensure children settle well into school.

I would like to welcome Mr Paul Tarry to Howes as he takes up his new post as Deputy Head. Also, Mrs Jane Pilling returns as a fully qualified teacher and will work alongside Mr Tarry in Year 4 and will support music teaching in school. Mrs Mandy Mair takes up her post as special needs support teacher. Congratulations to Mr Jones whose wife had a beautiful baby girl, Imogen, at the end of July.

School has been a busy place over the summer! The holiday club has been very popular and many children from Howes and the wider community have enjoyed a fun time together.

We now have a wonderful all weather trim trail on the field which will be a great addition to our outdoor play. The Foundation Stage also have a vareity of equipment which will support their exploratory play and development. We will be planting a range of plants in and around the outdoor area.

We are looking forward to a great year at Howes Primary with everyone…
