The Governing Body
The Headteacher works with the governing body to ensure:-
- the effective running of the school
- the school provides a quality education and achieves high standards
- the school fulfils its legal responsibilities.
What are Governors?
Governors are like a board of directors. They assist the Headteacher in making decisions and shaping the future direction of the school. They also hold the headteacher and staff to account for what’s going on in the school. Being a governor is not an onerous task the whole governing body meet termly. Each governor also sits on one of the two sub-committees, which meet a couple of weeks before the whole governing body meeting.
Governors do have legal duties, powers and responsibilities, but can only act together as a body, and not as individuals.
The minutes of past governor's meeting are available if you wish to view them please ask at the school office.
